No War With Venezuela Rally & Vigil
No War With Venezuela Rally & Vigil
January 10, 2026 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Lowell City Hall, 375 Merrimack St, , Lowell MA, 01852
Join us this Saturday, 1/10 at 11 AM on the steps of Lowell City Hall to demand an end to the Trump Administration’s criminal war against Venezuela and justice for Renee Nicole Good.
Sign the petition to demand Lowell City Council pass a local ordinance to stop public institutions from any form of cooperation with ICE.
The current military aggression against Venezuela is a nakedly imperialist act of war. This is an illegal attempt to install a U.S. puppet government and seize Venezuela’s oil resources for U.S. corporations—a dangerous “Trump Corollary” to the Monroe Doctrine. These actions violate both international law and U.S. law governing the declaration of war.
This same disregard for human life and the rule of law led to the state-sanctioned killing of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis by ICE agents this week. Renee was a mother, a poet, and a trained, peaceful legal observer. Her death is the direct result of ICE being given “permission” to treat our streets like a battlefield, assaulting normal working people, be they mothers, fathers, or children.

Boston DSA January General Meeting
Boston DSA January General Meeting
January 11, 2026 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
The Foundry, 101 Rogers St, Cambridge MA, 02142
The Boston chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America typically holds its General Meetings and General Organizing Meetings for all members each month on a weekend afternoon. Interested in DSA but haven't signed up yet? Join us! Members of the public are welcome too.
Was your New Year’s resolution to get more involved in local socialist organizing? Well, you’re in luck!
Please join us at our chapter-wide General Meeting on Sunday, January 11 from 2 to 5 p.m. at The Foundry in Cambridge! We’ve got big plans for 2026 – and you can help put them into practice.
Grassroots climate leaders will be presenting about their work building the climate movement, passing nation-leading policies, and stopping a fossil fuel funded bill in the MA Statehouse this November. Members will learn about the climate movement, our policy and political goals, and how to get involved through Boston DSA's Ecosocialist Working Group.
We'll hear an update on DSA's internationalist organizing in solidarity with the Caribbean: against the kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, and threats to do the same to Cuba. Last fall, 42 DSA members from across the country went on delegation to Cuba. We'll report back on what we saw in Havana, explore the connections between Cuba and Venezuela, and fundraise for the new Venceremos Fund, which covers travel expenses for DSA members going on international delegations. International socialism, now more than ever!
In addition, we may be voting on whether we should endorse Evan MacKay’s run for State House. Evan is a DSA member and previously endorsed candidate running for Massachusetts State Representative of the 25th Middlesex district.
Meeting business will run from 2 to 4, followed by some socializing with socialists!
This meeting will be in-person with a hybrid option; please RSVP for the Zoom link. For the in-person meeting, child watch will be provided. Snacks will be available. For the protection of our immunocompromised comrades and as it is the height of flu season, we strongly encourage masking; a variety of masks will be available. If you have any accessibility needs or questions, please email accessibility@bostondsa.org and we will do our best to accommodate you.
The Foundry is at 101 Rogers Street, Cambridge, MA 02142. It is a 10-minute walk from the Kendall/MIT station on the Red Line, and there is metered street parking in the neighborhood. We will be meeting in the STEAM set, which is on the first floor of the building. It is straight ahead to the back if you come in through the front entrance, and the first room on your right if you come in through the side entrance.

We're meeting to discuss the reading "The Negro Nation" by Harry Haywood. A zoom link should be emailed to you before the event if you rsvp'd but please reach out to benamado24a@gmail.com if you don't see it.
The Negro Nation
Discussion Questions:
1. Haywood talks about black people in the US as a nation, how does he define that and is it something you find convincing?
2. Can you think of examples of nationalist movements that have developed among Black Americans? How influential were they and do they have any similarities with the national liberation movements in external colonies throughout the 20th century?
3. How has the black working class and the black bourgeoisie developed since the time when this piece was written?
4. How does Haywood define self-determination for the Black Nation? How does it relate to our understanding of other oppressed nations like Palestine?
5. How well does the concept of self-determination for a black nation coexist with land back for Indigenous people? Can these two concepts coexist at all?

Roxbury Neighborhood Group: January Meeting
Roxbury Neighborhood Group: January Meeting
January 25, 2026 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Northeastern Crossing, 1175 Tremont St, Boston MA, 02120
Comrades in Roxbury and nearby neighborhoods are invited to join us as we break the ice over good food and an informal language exercise, then discuss our latest collaboration with the Housing Working Group. New members are always welcome — bring a friend!
Below is the draft agenda, subject to change:
(12:00 PM) Practicing Canvass skills in Spanish
Speakers of all levels will practice typical conversations we encounter when canvassing. Never spoken Spanish before? Step out of your comfort zone to learn with other beginners! Spoken Spanish your whole life? Help others improve their skills!
- Beginner: Introduction, reading from a script, asking for contact information, vocabulary
- Intermediate/Fluent: Specific scenarios with clarifying questions & responses
(12:20 PM) Building Consensus on Housing Campaign
We had a busy December! It's time to reflect as a group on whether or not we want to solidify this work into a full-fledged campaign:
- Recap of what we've done so far
- Reflection on what went well and what could be improved
- (Regardless of whether or not we continue with this campaign, it's important to reflect on what we learned; This helps us grow as organizers, and the lessons we take from it can be applied in future organizing work.)
- Consensus on whether or not to continue building out the campaign
(1:10 PM) Break
(1:20 PM) Clarifying the Campaign OR Brainstorming New Ideas
If we do elect to proceed with this housing campaign, we'll use the remaining time to define the following campaign aspects:
- S.M.A.R.T. Goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound)
- Strategy & Tactics (the bridge to achieving our goals and the steps to get there)
- Ladder of Engagement (assign tactics to each rung of the ladder)
- Milestones (achieved within 2 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year)
- Targets, Allies, & Oponents (specific people, groups, or systems)
- Roadblocks (challenges the group will likely face)
- Group Structure (to work effectively towards the campaign’s goal)
- Rent Control Ballot Question (connection between this campaign and GOTV)
If we do not elect to proceed with this housing campaign, we'll use the remaining time to brainstorm future work/campaigns, possibly splitting into groups. This might look like an open discussion or defining campaign aspects, similar to the process above.
Can't join in person? RSVP for the Zoom link!
