Intro:

Are you unhappy with changes in America, but not sure what to do here in Somerville? Do you feel like people deserve a fair wage for their work? New to DSA but not sure where to start? Have I got the event for you!

Come hang out with some democratic socialist community organizers for a friendly, casual social over coffee (or your non-alcoholic drink of choice). We'll introduce ourselves, talk about how Somerville has changed, and what hopes we have for the future.

Then, we are going to turn those hopes into action by flyering a nearby Starbucks in solidarity with Starbucks Workers United (SBWU). "No Contract, No Coffee" is a promise to not buy Starbucks products until the baristas win.

We will be asking members of our community to boycott Starbucks until the baristas get their first and fair contract. SBWU's fight against their CEO should inspire us to think of how we can push back against the undue influence CEOs have over Somerville and even our nation.

Details:

We'll chat and have coffee for about an hour and a half, and then hand out flyers and talk to our neighbors about boycotting Starbucks for another hour and a half.

All are welcome! Nobody will be turned away for lack of experience or background knowledge.

You only need to bring warm clothes and good vibes 😎

Want to eat pizza and make cute winter crafts? Maybe you'd like to meet our two new co-chairs: Destiney and Nafew!

Join neighbors of all ages for pizza and crafting! No prior experience necessary. There will be crafting teachers on
site. Materials will be provided! We are also providing PIZZA! This event is open to the community, so expect families, children, DSA members, and, you know, the neighborhood. This event is free to attend, and part of a coalition between the Allston/Brighton DSA and the Greater Boston Tenants Union.

This is also a great opportunity to meet our new ABDSA co-chairs, who will be joining around 3pm to do a chill and fun meet and greet :)

What's on the docket?

- 1:30-3pm: Crafting session! Learn how to make scarves, plushies and fun projects with yarn!!
- 3-4pm: Co-Chairs wander in for the meet & greet
