Public Comment Training
May 6, 2026 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
CCTV, 438 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge MA, 02139When policy makers take input from the public, it's often in the format of short speeches at a meeting. In Cambridge, for instance, there is time allocated at the beginning of each regular City Council meeting for residents to comment on any of the agenda items. Showing up to speak on policies under consideration can be a powerful form of advocacy, and developing your skills and confidence with speaking in this format can make the process easier and more effective.
Presenter Vick Mohanka is Director of Sierra Club Massachusetts, and has over 10 years of professional experience holding public hearings as government staff and as an advocate at the state and local level on a variety of issues including topics like labor rights and climate policy. Join us to learn some tips and tricks to prepare a persuasive public comment, and practice to speak on an issue that matters to you.
