The working group has two exciting campaigns in progress that you can dive into - Let Cambridge Choose & Tax Harvard! Join us as we kick off our campaign skills training series -  Part 1: Effective Canvassing

The Let Cambridge Choose campaign is a ballot question petition to reform of the Cambridge City Charter which seeks to replace the unelected, unaccountable City Manager government with an elected executive.

Tax Harvard campaign seeks to pressure both Harvard & City Manager as negotiations between the parties for another 20 year term agreement are happening right now behind closed doors while our communities are being shut out and Harvard PILOTs (or payments-in-lieu of taxes) to the city are only $4.5million/yr.

We will do campaign updates and deep-dives on both and give you ways to get involved and start making a difference!

Boston DSA's Electoral Working Group (EWG) organizes to grow the socialist presence in our politics, communities, and city halls. We're building shared power for working people in Massachusetts and doing it together.

Everyone new to socialist activism and/or Boston DSA is invited to a three session intro reading group on the basics of socialism and DSA.

The group starts on Thursday, February 13th and runs for three weeks (2/13, 2/20, and 2/27). All sessions are 7:00-9:00 PM.

This in-person only training will focus on how to ask individuals to get more involved in our work and take on roles of responsibility. This training will focus on developing new chapter infrastructure for onboarding and engaging new members. All members are welcome, though anyone interested in helping grow our chapter by talking to new members is highly encouraged to attend.

The Administrative Committee is responsible for handling our chapter’s routine administrative functions such as chapter communications, technology infrastructure, membership data maintenance, and new member onboarding. The Administrative Committee is chaired by the Communications Coordinator and the Membership Coordinators of the Coordinating Committee.

The time to protect our neighbors is now! Join the Immigration and Internationalism Working Group for its monthly meeting! In this meeting we will breakout into groups to discuss our new campaign and to debrief/review our successful 3 year long campaign to remove Cuba from the SSOT.

Join Boston DSA for our February General Meeting at 2 pm on Saturday, February 22 at First Paris Church in Dorchester.

In this meeting we will discuss our chapter's campaigns in the second Trump era, including an introduction to our new Protest Organizing and Political Solidarity (POPS) Committee; updates from our Democracy Commission; and breakouts with our Working Groups.

For the benefit of new members (and a refresher for old), our Harassment and Grievance Officers (HGOs) will present "Be a Comrade, Not a Creep," a brief training on the chapter Code of Conduct (which you can find here) and how the chapter deals with issues of harassment and conflict.

We will also walk through what to expect at our upcoming chapter convention in April, and begin preparing to elect our chapter’s delegation to the DSA national convention in August.

Be on the lookout for our giveaway table full of queer books in support of the Boston Immigration Justice Accompaniment Network (BIJAN), available in exchange for a small donation.

This meeting will by hybrid; Zoom call-in information will be sent upon RSVPing to this event. Masks are required at all General Meetings and will be provided. Lunch will also be served, so please RSVP so we can get an accurate headcount!

All of Boston DSA’s general meetings are open to the public, so if you are not yet a member but are curious about our organizing work (or about socialism more generally), you are most welcome to attend!

We are in an era of increasing authoritarianism and we can't be sure who
is watching, and with what resources. State actors? Angry individuals?
Or are you just leaking personal information like a sieve? The DADS
Digital Security Training will assist comrades in analyzing potential
threats, producing models to understand how they endanger us, how to
mitigate these threats and how they can prevent the leaking of sensitive
personal information.

The Boston DSA Coordinating Committee meets semimonthly, usually on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month.
We use these meetings to brainstorm and address administrative issues in the chapter.

Meetings are typically on Zoom.

All CC meetings are open to the general membership, but not to the general public.

On specific occasions where the CC is handling sensitive information, it may go into executive session for a portion of the meeting.

Boston DSA's Political Education Working Group meets on the fourth or last Thursday of every month at 7 pm, unless we have to move it for a holiday, which happens more often than you'd think.
PEWG's goal is to provide our members with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to organize effectively and strategically, and to educate the wider public on DSA's vision for a socialist future and the often-erased leftist movements of the past. PEWG hosts a number of ongoing projects, such as the chapter's political education blog (bostonpewg.org), our Socialist Night School series, and periodic New Member Reading Groups (abcsofsocialism@gmail.com).

We also run one-time (or a-few-times) events such as reading groups, lectures, and panel discussions; and work with other working groups in the chapter to run political education events related to their areas of organization.
