This is a great chance to chat with likeminded people and learn more about Boston DSA chapter's priorities - like passing rent control, supporting the Starbucks workers on strike for a first contract and the Safe Communities Act - and come check out what organizing for a better world looks like! Roxbury Neighborhood Group: February Meeting
Roxbury Neighborhood Group: February Meeting
February 7, 2026 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Tobin Community Center, 1481 Tremont St, Roxbury MA, 02120
(January's meeting was rescheduled due to weather, so now it's our February meeting!)
Comrades in Roxbury and nearby neighborhoods are invited to join us as we break the ice over good food, then discuss our latest collaboration with the Housing Working Group. New members are always welcome — bring a friend!
Below is the draft agenda, subject to change:
(12:00 PM) Introductions & Ground Rules for Discussion
(12:10 PM) Building Consensus on Housing Campaign
We had a busy December! It's time to reflect as a group on whether or not we want to solidify this work into a full-fledged campaign:
- Recap of what we've done so far
- Reflection on what went well and what could be improved
- (Regardless of whether or not we continue with this campaign, it's important to reflect on what we learned; This helps us grow as organizers, and the lessons we take from it can be applied in future organizing work.)
- Consensus on whether or not to continue building out the campaign
(1:10 PM) Break
(1:20 PM) Clarifying the Campaign OR Brainstorming New Ideas
If we do elect to proceed with this housing campaign, we'll use the remaining time to define the following campaign aspects:
- S.M.A.R.T. Goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound)
- Strategy & Tactics (the bridge to achieving our goals and the steps to get there)
- Ladder of Engagement (assign tactics to each rung of the ladder)
- Milestones (achieved within 2 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year)
- Targets, Allies, & Oponents (specific people, groups, or systems)
- Roadblocks (challenges the group will likely face)
- Group Structure (to work effectively towards the campaignβs goal)
- Rent Control Ballot Question (connection between this campaign and GOTV)
If we do not elect to proceed with this housing campaign, we'll use the remaining time to brainstorm future work/campaigns, possibly splitting into groups. This might look like an open discussion or defining campaign aspects, similar to the process above.
Can't join in person? RSVP for the Zoom link!

Boston DSA February General Organizing Meeting
Boston DSA February General Organizing Meeting
February 8, 2026 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
JFK Elementary School, 5 Cherry St, Somerville, MA 02144, Somerville MA, 02144
The Boston chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America typically holds its General Meetings and General Organizing Meetings for all members each month on a weekend afternoon. Interested in DSA but haven't signed up yet? Join us! Members of the public are welcome too.
Please join us at our General Organizing Meeting on Sunday, February 8 from 2 to 5 p.m. at John F. Kennedy Elementary School in Somerville to learn about how DSA is organizing in our community β and how you can help.
This month, weβve got some very special guests! Staffers Bets, Eric, and Milo will be visiting from National to facilitate trainings on core organizing skills. Eric will do a deep dive on listwork; Milo will run a field lead training with a focus on organizing conversations; and Bets will train us on member engagement and onboarding best practices.
At this meeting, weβll be voting on Erika Uyterhoevenβs endorsement for the 2nd Middlesex seat of the Massachusetts State Senate. Members in good standing should check their email for an email from OpenSlides before the meeting. To request a proxy for the endorsement vote, members must fill out the proxy request form linked in the meeting announcement email by 11:59 pm Thursday, February 5.
After this meeting, weβll be voting for members of the Socialists in Office Committee (SiOC) and a replacement Comms Coordinator. Members in good standing (who have been members for 30+ days, or who attended the meeting) should look for an email from OpaVote that contains their ballot.
This meeting will be in-person with a hybrid option; please RSVP for the Zoom link. For the in-person meeting, child watch will be provided. Snacks will be available. For the protection of our immunocompromised comrades and as it is the height of flu season, we strongly encourage masking; a variety of masks will be available. If you have any accessibility needs or questions, please email accessibility@bostondsa.org and we will do our best to accommodate you.
The John F. Kennedy School has on-site parking and is two blocks away from the Porter Square Red Line station. We will be meeting in the cafeteria; the cafeteria entrance is off Sartwell Ave., on the other side of the building from the parking lot.
