Boston DSA’s working groups carry out the external political work of the chapter. Working groups are centered strategies such as labor organizing (supporting striking workers and educators) or socialist electoral politics (challenging the legislative system). We’re fighting Warren and Markey by building a mass base around three critical issues – a permanent ceasefire, ending weapons shipments to Israel, and delivering immediate relief for Gaza. 2028 Town Hall #3 | Labor Power and The 2028 General Strike feat. Guest Speaker Jeff Schuhrke

Dilboy VFW, 351 Summer Street, Somerville MA, 02144Welcome to the third of four Town Halls dedicated to 2028 and all it has to offer—a presidential election, general strike, statewide and local elections and ballot measures. Our third Town Hall is on the topic of Labor and the call for a general strike in 2028. What does the current political landscape look like for unions, rank-and-file workers, and non-unionized workers, and what would it look like to have a pro-labor presidential candidate in 2028? What would it take for us to meet the call for a general strike in 2028, and why should we try? What planning is already in place, and how do we meet each other? And most importantly, what do we want to fight for with our labor power?
This Town Hall will feature a very special guest speaker, Jeff Schuhrke, author of Blue-Collar Empire: The Untold Story of US Labor's Global Anticommunist Crusade and No Neutrals There: Us Labor, Zionism, and the Struggle for Palestine.
This is an opportunity for all DSA members, union members, and labor activists to meet and share knowledge, have discussions, and strategize!
This Town Hall is intended to contain both introductory and advanced elements to engage with members across the spectrum of involvement—so whether you are a longstanding DSA member or not a member at all, whether you are a union shop steward or have never been in a union, we will have something for everyone to engage with.Suggested content and a primer of the evening can be found at bdsa.us/townhalldrive
We will have printed summaries available at the door.This meeting will be in-person, but a Zoom option is available by request, and a recording will be made available to chapter members. Child watch can be made available by request.
