Winter Rate Hikes

In early March, the Ecosocialism Working Group co-hosted the Boston Fee Party rally with the Fix the Grid campaign – delivering the message that our overreliance on fossil fuels directly led to skyrocketing utility rates this past winter. The event featured environmental justice organizations, climate activists, and State Rep. Mike Connolly calling out the regional grid operator, ISO-New England for keeping us hooked on natural gas and preventing ratepayers from having a voice in the matter.

Green New Deal for Cambridge

March saw the passage of two of the three components for the Green New Deal for Cambridge legislation – a green jobs program and emissions accounting requirements. Much of our organizing has been focused on the third prong, which is an amendment that sets net zero emissions targets for buildings across Cambridge. There are crucial hearings happening on that piece during the month of April.

Monthly Social

In late March, we gathered at a comrade’s house to show off our cooking & baking skills for a potluck. This will be the start of planned monthly activities that bring members of the ecosocialist working group together.
