MVDSA is reaching out to invite you to our first reading group meeting. To kick us off, we'll be diving into The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. Whether you're new to the text or have read it before, this will be a great space for discussion, analysis, and shared learning.

Individual conversations are the building blocks of our movement. We talk to one another to inspire each other to action, to have a sense of agency in a world where we otherwise feel powerless, and to take care of one another. One-on-one conversations are essential to labor and tenant organizing as well as onboarding and activation in any volunteer-run space. In this training, you will learn and practice how to structure and have these conversations!

This Zoom-only training will focus on how to ask individuals to get more involved in our work and take on roles of responsibility. All members are welcome, though anyone interested in helping grow our chapter by talking to new members is highly encouraged to attend.

Tax Harvard campaign seeks to pressure both Harvard & City Manager as negotiations between the parties for another 20 year term agreement are happening right now behind closed doors while our communities are being shut out and Harvard PILOTs (or payments-in-lieu of taxes) to the city are only $4.5million/yr.

The campaign aims to bring neighbors together to ask how Harvard can better serve the community with its ample resources.

The Administrative Committee is responsible for handling our chapter’s routine administrative functions such as chapter communications, technology infrastructure, membership data maintenance, and new member onboarding. The Administrative Committee is chaired by the Communications Coordinator and the Membership Coordinators of the Coordinating Committee.

The working group has two exciting campaigns in progress that you can dive into - Let Cambridge Choose & Tax Harvard!

The Let Cambridge Choose campaign is a ballot question petition to reform the Cambridge City Charter which seeks to replace the unelected, unaccountable City Manager government with an elected executive.

The Tax Harvard campaign seeks to pressure both Harvard & the City Manager as negotiations between the parties for another 20 year term agreement are happening right now behind closed doors while our communities are being shut out and Harvard PILOTs (or payments-in-lieu of taxes) to the city are only $4.5million/yr.

We will provide campaign updates and specific ways you can get involved and start making a difference in Cambridge!

Boston DSA is having a board game night! Our main event will be a game of Bloc by Bloc, the cooperative board game of uprising and liberation! Created by leftist game design collective Out of Order Games, in Bloc by Bloc players are tasked with liberating a city before a military crackdown ends their revolutionary dreams. As a cooperative game, students, prisoners and more work together to establish occupations, rally the people, boot the cops out, and establish and achieve their goals of liberation!
Never played before? No problem! This is a teaching session. Experienced players will be on hand to guide the session and teach the rules, and attendees will work together to make game decisions. We’ll have snacks and other board games for “free play” as well. Let’s have fun and exercise our talents for strategic thinking together!
