Who We Are

Boston DSA is the Eastern MA chapter of Democratic Socialists of America.

We are working against the oppressive capitalist system in its many forms. We see these oppressions — economic inequality, patriarchy, white supremacy, to name a few — as interlinked, intersecting, and inseparable.

Join us in building mass movements for the world we deserve and growing an openly socialist presence in communities and politics in the Greater Boston Area.

Join a Boston DSA Working Group

Boston DSA’s working groups carry out the external political work of the chapter. Working groups are centered strategies such as labor organizing (supporting striking workers and educators) or socialist electoral politics (challenging the legislative system). Learn about the working groups and find your organizing home within the chapter.

Protesters march through the streets of Boston holding signs that say "A Better World if Possible Democratic Socialists of America" and "Boston DSA Supports a Free Palestine"

Working Group Spotlight: Palestine

Join the Palestine Working Group! We’re fighting Warren and Markey by building a mass base around three critical issues – a permanent ceasefire, ending weapons shipments to Israel, and delivering immediate relief for Gaza. For the first time in history, the American people are on the side of Palestine – help us organize them!

  • (11/4) Get out the Vote with Jivan Sobrinho-Wheeler!

IT IS ELECTION DAY and we need your help to get our campaign for affordable housing, safe streets, and universal after-school across the finish line! Find more info and RSVP link here: https://actionnetwork.org/groups/jivan-for-cambridge-2025

    We need your help with:

GOTV Canvassing: On GOTV weekend, instead of contacting just any potential supporters, our campaigns will be targeting the supporters they've already identified and the most supportive undecided voters, making sure they have a plan for how they will be getting to the polls. On GOTV weekend, every supporter you talk to is not just a potential vote; they're also a potential DSA member.
GOTV Phone Banking: Similar to door knocking, we’re trying to reach our most likely voters and urging them to make a plan to vote. With phone banking, we’re reaching our supporters whose doors we are least able or least likely to knock on.
Lit Dropping: Got some free time on the evening before election day? Many of our campaigns will be going throughout their cities hanging special literature from peoples’ doorknobs to remind them to vote when they open their door on Tuesday morning. It’s much like canvassing without looking to have any of the typical conversations.
Poll Standing: A lot of the time, voters are still making up their minds even as they're walking to the polls. With that in mind, many campaigns will be standing outside polling places (at a respectable distance, as the law requires) with signs and a whole lot of energy to remind folks of who we are and what we’re fighting for right before they cast their ballot! Poll standing is a great way to talk to voters on election day for as much time as you have, whether it’s in the early morning as polls open, afternoon as people get home from work, or evening as the last few folks get their ballots in.
